What you’ll do:

  • Proactively partner with the business to understand medium to long term strategic plans, major project pipeline and operational requirements in order to develop and implement Corporation-Wide category and contract strategies

  • Effectively manage the risk of externally sourced goods and services, develop alternate sources of supply, drive commercial benefits and develop the supplier base

  • Drive and support the development, implementation and monitoring of category management plans for defined categories, including but not limited to spend analysis, opportunity identification, global / national / local supply market analysis, alliances / panel / partnerships relationships and sourcing strategies.

  • Guide, oversee and support the end-to-end strategic sourcing process including task brief, option / hypothesis development and testing, procurement strategy development, market engagement, evaluation, negotiation of commercial and contractual terms, contract formulation and award.

  • Assess suppliers’ capability, including safety, environmental and quality accreditations; categorise suppliers within market segments and determine supplier risk scoring in accordance with WaterNSW frameworks; conduct supplier performance reviews and assist in contract lifecycle management.


What we are looking for:

  • Relevant degree qualification (e.g. Engineering, Business, Supply Chain) or experience deemed equivalent. Engineering qualifications would be preferred.

  • Strong experience in category management and strategic procurement across categories preferably in Infrastructure Construction and, MRO (Plant and Equipment) across both public and private sectors.

  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with the business to develop effective category strategies and procurement plans, lead commercial negotiations, manage supplier partnership and support contract management across the lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of identifying, analysing and reporting important supply market developments to drive procurement strategies maximising benefits delivery.

  • Experience of leading program level procurement delivery model, commercial analysis and pricing strategy development for related categories of goods & services.

  • Desirable: Prior experience in consulting and/or project management.
