Allianz Commercial’s Specialty& Major Accounts division is looking for a claims specialist to join our Short Tail Claims team in Australia. The Short Tail claims portfolio includes property, energy, construction, and entertainment.
Reporting to the National Manager – Claims, Specialty& Major Accounts, the successful candidate will manage a variety of Short Tail claims across Australia and New Zealand. They will develop and oversee claims resolution strategies for their assigned portfolio in consultation with senior colleagues as appropriate, manage external service providers and engage with Allianz Commercial’s market-leading global claims community. They will provide claims feedback to underwriters, actuaries and our global Chief Claims Office, and support business development initiatives involving the Short Tail lines of business.
You'll be responsible for
- Manage a portfolio of commercial claims across multiple jurisdictions, adhering to authority levels within the Short Tail business lines.
- Develop relationships with customers and brokers and contribute to the delivery of a superior claims service which puts the best interests of our customers at the heart of everything we do.
- Engage with global "large loss" teams as per authority procedures and uphold a "no surprises" reporting philosophy.
- Monitor assigned claims portfolio to ensure claims are handled efficiently, appropriately, and in compliance with regulations.
- Report and present loss and claims information to stakeholders, maximize recoverable income through proactive reinsurance engagement, and manage external service providers.
- Support business development initiatives and keep abreast of claims and industry trends.
- Require experience in complex claims handling within relevant business lines, loss adjusting, engineering or insurance litigation (essential).
- Must possess good technical knoweledge of relevant business lines (construction claims in particular), including independent coverage assessment and legal process.
- Need to have excellent communication skills, with strong analytical, strategic, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Should have negotiation and investigation skills, with a capacity to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage tasks and resources.
- Current knowledge of insurance guidelines, legislation, and regulations, demonstrate proficiency with relevant systems and tools, and uphold a growth mindset with a commitment to ethics and professionalism.
