About Austin Cancer Clinical Trials Department

The Cancer Clinical Trials Centre (CCTC) is a key department within Austin Health Cancer Services, operating under the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre (ONJ Centre). It conducts a broad range of therapeutic interventional cancer clinical trials across Medical Oncology and Clinical Haematology, managing over 250 active trials from Phase 1 (including First-in-Human) to Phase 3.


About the role

This role provides vital support to Clinical Trial Coordinators and contributes to the efficient operation of the unit to ensure high-quality clinical trial management. Flexibility is a key requirement of this role, as CRAAs will be required to provide support not only within their assigned team but also across the broader department.


A regular day will see you:

  • Clinical Trial Support: Assist in the day-to-day management of clinical trials, including preparing documentation, organizing patient appointments, and supporting patient visit logistics in accordance with study protocols and Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) guidelines.
  • Data and Document Management: Maintain accurate records through data entry, update study trackers, and support monitor visits.
  • Laboratory and Specimen Handling: Prepare and process biospecimen kits, handle biological samples (e.g., blood and urine), maintain laboratory logs, and coordinate sample shipments in compliance with safety standards.
  • Patient and Logistics Coordination: Submit reimbursement paperwork, manage supplies for parking and trial kits, and coordinate the collection and upload of imaging.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Engage professionally with vendors and staff, attend team meetings, and contribute to a collaborative and respectful work environment.

About you

As the Clinical Research Administration Assistant, You will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in clinical research excellence. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.


To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

  • Strong Attention to Detail: Proven ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain meticulous records in clinical or administrative settings.
  • Excellent Organisational Skills: Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and experience with databases and electronic records systems.
  • Professionalism and Adaptability: A proactive, reliable, and self-motivated approach, with the flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs and support various tumour streams.
  • Laboratory Experience (Highly Desirable): Familiarity with handling and processing biological samples (e.g., blood and urine), including centrifugation and sample preparation, with training provided as needed.
