Job Description
As the Commercial Finance Manager for our Editorial business, you'll be a vital partner to our newsrooms, ensuring financial discipline. This is a unique opportunity to use your financial expertise to directly support the creation of Australia's best journalism.
Day to day you will:
- Act as a strategic finance partner to editorial leaders, providing them with clear, actionable financial insights.
- Manage and control the entire Editorial cost base, with a specific focus on staff and content-related expenses.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for all editorial cost centers, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Provide insightful analysis on financial performance, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities for cost savings and growth.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience in finance or commercial accounting, with a degree and/or a CA/CPA qualification.
- Proven business partnering skills, including the ability to build trust and translate financial concepts for non-finance teams.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to liaise with senior stakeholders.
- Expertise in core financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting.
- Experience in media/publishing, managing staff costs, and using systems such as D365, TM1, SAP, or Tableau is ideal
