Primary objective
As a member of the Road Safety team, deliver programs that raise awareness and promote responsible road user behaviour
to the general community with a particular focus on youth and school students.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Contribute to the development and implementation of NT Road Safety education programs and initiatives to raise
awareness of road safety issues and encourage responsible and safer road user behaviour.
2. Deliver and support targeted road safety education sessions to a wide range of groups; children from childcare to Year
12, specific youth, industry and community groups; in urban, rural and remote settings across the NT.
3. Represent the Government in the provision of information to other stakeholders and members of the community at
community events and other stakeholder engagement activities.
4. Under direction, contribute to the development of new resources for use in a range of road safety activities and provide
input into maintaining currency of resources and products relevant for a wide range of client groups.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to contribute to the development of new and review existing resources for use in a range of road safety activities
and products relevant for a wide range of client groups.
2. Demonstrated experience to engage and deliver education or public awareness discussions or presentations to a wide
range of groups including Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and people of diverse cultures.
3. Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to sustain effective relationships across a wide range of
community and client groups.
4. Demonstrated experience to organise and achieve workplace objectivities, managing time to meet deadlines and working
independently and part of a team.
5. Ability to work with minimal supervision, use initiative and operate within agreed service delivery framework where your
only tool is engagement.
6. An understanding of Work Health and Safety matters as they apply to a workplace or the ability to acquire knowledge
within a short period.
Desirable
1. Understanding of road safety issues, strategies, and programs in the Northern Territory.
2. Qualifications in a related discipline such as transport, training and development or marketing.
Further information
The successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Clearance Notice / Ochre Card before they commence employment,
hold a current Australian C Class Driver’s Licence, and Senior First Aid Certificate or the ability to acquire. This position
requires the ability to undertaking frequent regional travel.
