We are seeking a dedicated Conference and Events Manager to take ownership of end-to-end planning, delivery, and business development for a portfolio of exceptional, high-end events.
About the Role:
As Conference and Events Manager, you will oversee the launch, growth, and daily operation of Maryvale Olinda’s conference and event services. From business development and marketing to hands-on delivery and post-event evaluation, this role requires strategic leadership, exceptional service standards, and a passion for detail. You’ll collaborate with senior leadership, external stakeholders, and a high-performing team to deliver seamless, unforgettable event experiences.
Job Responsibilities:
Pre-Opening & Planning (Stage One)
- Conduct market and competitor research to shape the venue’s strategy and pricing.
- Develop a compelling property brand story and marketing strategy.
- Lead property styling and photography coordination for digital promotion.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks related to the venue’s business plan.
Initial Operations (Stage Two)
- Plan and execute trial events with strategic partners and established groups.
- Gather and implement feedback to refine the service offering.
Ongoing Event Management (Stage Three)
- Oversee all aspects of event planning, coordination, and execution.
- Drive business development through partnerships, trade shows, and regional collaboration.
- Manage client relationships from enquiry through to post-event evaluation.
- Supervise and coach staff, coordinate rosters, and ensure excellent customer service.
- Create detailed event costings and quotations, manage stock, compliance, and budgets.
Compliance & Leadership
- Ensure all operations comply with food safety, liquor licensing, WHS, and financial procedures.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in event delivery and hospitality experience.
- Oversee risk, property maintenance, team performance, and client satisfaction.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum five years' experience in business events and conferences, with three years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proven understanding of catering operations, food & beverage service, and cost management.
- Demonstrated success in managing and delivering high-end events with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong event planning and budgeting capability.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and event management systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid RSA certification (or willingness to obtain), First Aid Certificate, and a C-Class Driver’s License.
Desirable Attributes:
- Formal qualifications in event management or hospitality.
- Experience in wellness or fitness programming (e.g., yoga instruction).
- Fluency in additional languages.
