About the role:
We are seeking a passionate Counsellor – Family & Relationships to provide high quality, trauma informed, relationship, family law and family counselling for individuals, couples, families, and children. This role will involve facilitating group work and networking within the community.
This is a permanent full-time position, based out of our offices in Waitara and will require you to travel across the Northern Sydney region, to meet program needs. The successful candidate will be a registered Counsellor with demonstrated experience providing family and relationship counselling by delivering child-aware, parent-sensitive, trauma informed practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide direct counselling services (in person or telehealth) including suitability screening, and actioning appropriate referrals to meet our contract requirements and guidelines.
- Provide time framed, trauma and DFV informed individual and family, counselling services depending on client needs.
- Provision of various group work facilitation with an ability to plan, write, deliver and evaluate group programs.
- Ensure safety standards are maintained for self and all hazards and incidents are reported within appropriate timeframes.
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant registrations (or working towards) with peak bodies such as ACA, PACFA, AASW or APHRA.
- Experience in various forms of counselling and therapeutic frameworks.
- A valid NSW Driver's Licence and insured vehicle.
- Additional study in areas of attachment theory, play therapy for children, an understanding of the impact of trauma on children’s development, family systems theory, domestic violence training, and parenting support and education following childhood trauma.
- Experience in working with the dynamics of domestic violence.
