We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Surface Water Operator (Dams North) to provide both daytime and after-hours operational support across our surface water sites, catchment areas, and treatment facilities.

In this hands-on role, you will:

This role covers key locations including Mundaring, Lower Helena, Wungong, Victoria, Churchmans, and Canning Dams, as well as smaller chemical dosing sites throughout the local hills scarp area.

 

This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at our Kelmscott Depot with a proposed start date of 21st July 2025.

 

What’s involved?

Operation of water production and treatment processes to achieve required water quality and quantity.

Coordinate day-to-day optimisation of the treatment process including monitoring daily performance statistics, fault-finding, and rectification.

Conduct process related activities including basic maintenance, sampling chemical use and site logistics activities.

Monitor scheme performance and liaise with staff and contractors to optimise production, maintenance, and commissioning activities.

Participation in the team roster to provide afterhours support to surface water schemes to support ‘24x7’ operations and provide immediate incident management presence and control of incident sites.

Inspect and maintain dam structures and outlet works in accordance with planned inspection and maintenance schedules.

Operate dam outlet structures, gates, valves, and screens, inspect, and maintain Public Recreation facilities and conduct routine after hour’s patrols and emergency contingencies.

Monitor and sample streams and reservoirs, perform surveillance of surface and ground water catchment areas and monitor land users and public recreation activities to ensure water quality protection.

All work is undertaken with safety as the priority in the provision of a work environment where no injury is considered acceptable, and all activities are undertaken without compromising health and safety.

Flexible working options! Your full-time roster will consist of a 9-day fortnight, meaning every second week you will have a 3-day weekend (RDO) to enjoy doing the things you love.

You’ll have pro-rata access to long service leave after 3 years of continuous service and you’ll receive 17.5% extra pay when you take annual leave.

In addition to the base requirement, Water Corporation will make an additional 2% super contribution when you elect to salary sacrifice 2% of your salary to super.

Key skills and experience:

·        Western Australian “C” Class and ‘HR’ Class Drivers Licence

·        Dams Safety training desirable

·        Experience with Chlorine, CSE or Fall prevention (desirable)
