Position Information

Airds High School is a co-educational high school, in the Campbelltown Network of South West Sydney, operating under the Connected Communities Strategy. The school is committed to personal and academic achievement offering a broad academic and vocational curriculum, thus catering for students of all ability levels. The school enrolment is 555 students including; 146 Aboriginal students, 94 EAL/D students and 68 students in the Support Unit. The Support Unit caters for students with a range of intellectual disabilities including Mild and Moderate Disability, Multi-Catergory and Autism.

Airds High School is committed to continually improving effective classroom practice with staff professional learning being the key focus, ensuring both student Literacy and Numeracy levels are improved through data collection, analysis and its application to drive and underpin the use of quality teaching and learning.

Providing a culture of exemplary evidence-based teaching practices and processes throughout whole group settings, helps to create student empowerment to become socially responsible life long learners. Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,
  • Demonstrated leadership in implementing Connected Communities strategies, with a proven ability to build staff capacity and drive continuous school improvement.
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, along with strong organisational and management capabilities, including the capacity to lead and oversee the complex day-to-day operations of the school.
  • Proven instructional leadership with the capacity to mentor and coach staff, supporting whole-school approaches that promote a culture of high expectations and collaborative practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, and manage student welfare and discipline programs that enhance wellbeing, engagement, and a positive school culture.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy


Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
