About the role

Ambulance Victoria is seeking a suitably experienced professional for the position of Director, Office of the Chief Executive.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position will be critical to the delivery of a variety of outputs in areas of organisation strategy, stakeholder management, communications, data driven decision making and project management to support the Chief Executive Officer in delivering strategic priorities.

In addition to effectively managing all aspects of work and outputs within the Office of the Chief Executive, this position will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and advising on strategic and operational risks, impacts and critical initiatives as a chief point of professional expertise
  • Enabling and contributing to executive operations by recommending action on topical issues and influencing key priorities
  • As a senior expert, use whole-of-organisation knowledge, research, compile and validate information to enable evidence-based best practice approaches
  • Serving as a central liaison for senior and external stakeholders to promote and maintain key relationships and partnerships and regularly representing AV at government and industry committees
  • Driving strategic thinking, collaboration, continuous improvement and capability development, whilst optimising quality, productivity and performance outcomes
  • Providing open and effective leadership to build a high performance, collaborative culture the fosters high performance, efficiency, continuous improvement and development
  • Leading and contributing to a safe, lawful, and respectful workplace culture through the modelling of ethical behaviours consistent with AV values (CARE)

About you

Suited to a highly motivated and strategic senior leader with significant experience, the successful applicant will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications or industry specialised certifications with extensive, relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of extensive training and experience
  • A sound understanding of what is required for a modern healthcare service to succeed, supported by extensive experience and contemporary knowledge of emergency services and/or healthcare and issues
  • Astute government relation skills with a deep understanding of economic, demographic, political and legislative trends
  • Experience in driving and implementing strategic cultural, organisational, and transformational change and a commitment to build a responsive, future focused and contemporary culture at a senior level
  • A high level of communication with an ability to build and maintain relationships and influence, negotiate, and generate buy-in with a range of stakeholders across all levels, including board and executive levels
  • A coaching, mentoring and leadership approach to motivate, encourage, and support teams across the employee lifecycle
