A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Coordinator of Economic Development, you will play a key role in delivering Council’s economic development initiatives. This includes engaging directly with local businesses, supporting trader associations, and contributing to the vitality of Boroondara’s shopping precincts.
You’ll be part of a dynamic and supportive team committed to strengthening the local economy through place-based projects and meaningful partnerships.
You will regularly visit and engage with local businesses to represent Council, respond to service requests, and provide tailored support across all stages of the business lifecycle.
You’ll maintain accurate business data, coordinate stakeholder meetings, and support the administration of grants and special rate and charge schemes. Your work will also involve assisting trader associations with marketing plans, events, and precinct activations, while contributing to the promotion of local businesses and the delivery of over 50 events annually.
Through your efforts, you’ll help amplify trader-led initiatives and ensure Boroondara remains a vibrant and thriving place to do business.

Experience and other requirements
Some experience of or dealing with small business
Related qualifications are desirable, however, while there are no specific qualifications or level of experience required for this role, having the right attitude and a good ability to build relationships is considered vital.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
