This role is classified as Level 4 role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $96,483 - $106,688). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Department

The Streaming & Digital Products team brings together SBS’s digital platforms—spanning streaming, news, audio, and publishing—into one integrated team. Our purpose is to innovate across the entire user journey and deliver seamless, consistent experiences across products like SBS On Demand, the Audio and News apps, and SBS websites. By harmonising product roadmaps, simplifying architecture, and driving smarter ways of working, we create reliable, user-centred digital products that millions of Australians rely on every day. This work is central to reimagining the digital experience and advancing SBS’s 2030 vision.

The Role

Reporting to the Product Satisfaction Lead, the Engagement Strategist will play a critical role in supporting the optimisation of SBS’s digital products including SBS On Demand, News, Audio and Publishing. With a strong focus on quantitative data and analytics, this role exists to surface actionable insights that enhance user journeys, product features, and overall engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and communicate actionable insights from user data, product usage, and research findings—providing clear recommendations for product, curation, and experience teams.

  • Suggest hypotheses and future testing opportunities to inform product decision-making and drive engagement.

  • Contribute to regular reporting cycles, including weekly updates, monthly reports, and showcases, ensuring outputs are clear, consistent, and actionable.

  • Track and interpret audience behaviour trends, highlighting significant shifts or anomalies.

  • Monitor post-release performance against agreed metrics, providing insights and recommendations for optimisation.

About you

  • 5+ years of experience in digital analytics, insights, or optimisation, ideally within streaming, media, entertainment, or digital product environments.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Analytics (essential); SQL is a nice-to-have.

  • Strong quantitative analysis skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.

  • Experience supporting or working alongside product and experimentation teams.

  • Clear communication skills with the ability to distill complex findings into meaningful stories for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving and hypothesis-driven mindset; curiosity is a must.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects across different products and priorities.
