About the Role
The ESOS Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 by managing student course variations and other regulatory requirements through PRISMS. This role includes overseeing course registration with CRICOS and maintaining coordination with TEQSA and ASQA. A key focus of the position is monitoring administrative processes across the student lifecycle—starting from commencement through to completion—to ensure alignment with both internal university policies and the ESOS Framework.
In addition to regulatory compliance, the ESOS Specialist serves as a subject matter expert on the National Code 2018 and acts as a Business Partner to designated departments. The role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, providing training, and offering authoritative guidance to ensure institutional obligations are met. Flexibility and collaboration within the ESOS Compliance Team are essential, as the incumbent is expected to support operational needs, promote efficiencies, and contribute to staff development initiatives.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Current knowledge of Federal and State Government policies and regulations related to international education, training and employment (e.g. ESOS National Code) and a broad knowledge of Australian educational systems and frameworks, and government policies.
- Considerable experience in managing CRICOS registration, including coordination of course changes and registration, and proficiency in using the TEQSA and ASQA portals.
- Significant experience in assessing and processing Release applications.
- Extensive experience in using the Australian Government’s Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS).
- Outstanding ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and manage key relationships professionally.
- Demonstrated high levels of planning and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use initiative and informed judgement in order to adopt a pro-active approach to problem solving, and to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional administrative and organisational skills, including time management and excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritize and follow through on tasks, and work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people from different backgrounds.
- Proficient computer skills, including competence in the use of MS Office and other software packages, especially word processing, database and spreadsheet skills.
