Primary objective
The Executive Officer provides high-level support to the Director through the coordination of strategic priorities and delivery of
administrative support in a range of areas including reporting, secretariat service, governance, quality assurance, continuous improvement
and recruitment.
Context statement
SAFE NT is responsible for implementing national strategic priorities over a range of operating areas including managing criminal history
data, National Police Checking and Working with Children and National Disability Insurance Scheme Employment Screening. This position
will be involved in multiple projects and day to day business operations in a legislated environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support and coordinate the Director’s schedule for strategic and legislated priorities to ensure commitments and obligations are met.
2. Provide a high-level of administrative support including preparation and quality control of a range of reports, briefings and
correspondence, ensuring consultation where required with the internal management team and/or Staff Officers of the NT Police
Executive.
3. Coordinate the development and implementation of a range of projects on behalf of the Director, which may include undertaking
research and analysis of various issues, provide recommendations, identification of risk and deliver solutions.
4. Provide secretariat support in producing business papers, minutes, and other documentation, fostering productive relationships with
stakeholders of the various Working Groups and local and interstate Committees of the Director.
5. Participate in recruitment and selection processes including screening and panel report creation.
6. Participate in day-to-day operations as required to support overall outcomes of SAFE NT.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal and networking skills with proven experience in compiling Ministerial
correspondence, briefings, discussion papers, reports, and presentations.
2. Proven experience in delivering high level executive and secretariat support coupled with strong computer skills.
3. Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
4. High-level organisational and research skills and attention to detail including the ability to evaluate a range of options and make
recommendations.
5. Demonstrated experience in project delivery with the ability to coordinate stakeholders to achieve targets within timeframe.
6. Experience in general recruitment and selection processes.
7. Experience working in a legislated environment, including ability to apply legal principles in a consistent manner.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in business administration, legal studies or other relevant disciplines.
2. Experience with NT Public Sector records management and human resource systems.
