About the Opportunity

As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll support First Nations community members through their mental health and wellbeing journey. Drawing on your own lived experience and cultural understanding, you’ll offer support that reflects the person’s story, values, strengths and aspirations. You’ll help people connect with the services, community, culture and healing practices that matter most to them, while nurturing hope, belonging and resilience.

This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to lasting change - supporting strong, connected and empowered First Nations communities across the region.

About You

You are a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with your own lived experience of mental health challenges, psychological distress or substance use. You’ve journeyed through recovery, shaped by both personal healing and cultural strength, and are now ready to walk alongside others as they navigate their own path.

Your story, and the way you share it, is grounded in respect, care and deep cultural understanding. You know the importance of being seen and heard, and you offer connection in a way that helps people feel safe, understood and supported. Whether supporting one-on-one or in group spaces, you help foster a sense of identity, purpose and possibility.

About the Service

Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is excited to be working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we're aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary and easy to access, with no referral needed. With a “no wrong door” approach and a focus on choice and connection, these safe and welcoming spaces make it easier for people to get the support they need – close to home, family and community.
