Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Loader Operator to contribute to land development, water development and maintenance activities across CAIT’s extensive cattle properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating bulldozers safely and efficiently to prepare land, maintain infrastructure, and support the cattle and farming operations.
The role is based on a remote cattle station approximately 200 km from the nearest town. This is a permanent, full-time position with the potential for long-term employment.
This role is essential for supporting large-scale agricultural land management and infrastructure projects in Northern Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- In line with the ANZSCO definition, duties include:
- Operating Loader and other heavy earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently.
- Preparing land for agricultural use, including clearing, grading, and contouring terrain.
- Maintaining farm roads, tracks, and infrastructure to support operational needs.
- Conducting routine maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
- Reporting mechanical faults or safety hazards promptly to the Manager.
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Coordinating with the Manager and other team members to meet operational targets.
Skills and Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Proven experience operating Loader and similar heavy machinery in an agricultural or related environment.
- Relevant licenses and certifications for operating heavy machinery (e.g., HR license or higher).
- Ability to perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
- Strong awareness of safety practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Capability to work independently in remote and regional locations.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to live and work in a regional and remote area of Northern Australia.
- English language proficiency sufficient to meet workplace communication requirements.
