Haileybury is seeking a reliable and proactive Grounds Person (Turf) to join Haileybury's Grounds team located at our Keysborough campus. This full-time, ongoing role is key to maintaining high-quality turf and practice facilities that support elite sporting programs. This position includes general gardening duties such as planting, pruning, and weed control, as well as assisting with the relocation of equipment and furniture as needed. This role plays an important part in ensuring a well-presented, functional campus environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role is from Tuesday to Saturday during school terms, and from Monday to Friday during school term breaks.
Main Responsibilities
- Cricket Pitch and Turf Maintenance:
- Prepare, maintain, and repair turf wickets, practice nets, and outfields to match-ready standards, including rolling, mowing, watering, fertilising, pitch marking, and monitoring turf health.
- Grounds and Facilities Support:
- Maintain sports fields, gardens, lawns, and irrigation systems; assist with event setup, line-marking, traffic management, and general maintenance requests across the school.
- Teamwork, Safety, and Compliance:
- Work collaboratively within the Facilities team, maintain accurate records, operate equipment safely, and ensure all tasks comply with school policies and legislative requirements.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role you will bring the following with you:
- Relevant certifications including Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Check (NPC), Driver’s Licence, First Aid, and Turf Management or equivalent experience.
- Strong turf and wicket preparation skills with knowledge of irrigation, soil health, and pitch performance.
- Child-safe mindset, reliable, team-focused, and flexible to work varied hours including weekends and public holidays.
