What you’ll do
This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of OTR tyre and wheel/rim products, systems, and maintenance best practices. You will lead collaborative initiatives across internal teams and external stakeholders to enhance performance standards, coach teams to deliver optimal outcomes, and embed a contractor mentality within site teams. While the preferred candidate will be based in Brisbane, this role is open to candidates across our Australian regions and can be based out of any of our offices, with regular travel to our projects will be a requirement of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Tyre Performance Improvements: Identify, implement, and report on initiatives to deliver year-on-year improvements in OTR tyre performance across Thiess projects.
- Training & Coaching: Deliver effective training and coaching to mining teams with a focus on tyre preservation, haul road design, maintenance standards, and safety best practices.
- Operational Support: Provide technical support across all projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable utilisation of tyres and related support systems.
- Data Management & Reporting: Ensure accurate collection of tyre and wheel/rim life data, interpret performance metrics, and drive accountability for continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, key suppliers, and regulators, ensuring alignment on tyre performance goals and standards.
- Resource Enablement: Ensure teams are equipped with the appropriate resources, tooling, and support to effectively execute tyre improvement activities on-site.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We are seeking a highly experienced professional with 10+ years of industry experience, ideally in tyre management or performance improvement roles, and demonstrated leadership within tyre or wheel/rim supply or maintenance organisations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation combined with the ability to drive cultural change, foster collaboration, and deliver measurable results in a dynamic environment focused on safety and sustainability.
Key skills and attributes include:
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of OTR tyre and wheel/rim products, systems, and maintenance best practices.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams while driving performance improvements and cultural change.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of business operations and decision-making processes, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Collaboration & Engagement: A collaborative approach, with the ability to build relationships, resolve issues, and share best practices across stakeholders.
- Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Proactive Mindset: A solution-focused, proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and sustainability in all operations.
