About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an energised leader and experienced professional to lead the Maddocks communications and media initiatives.
Reporting to our Director of Business Development and CEO, this role will also have the following responsibilities:
Drive and deliver a bold strategy to elevate Maddocks’ reputation for client excellence and amplify our brand in the market.-
Lead the charge on major firm-wide campaigns, crafting and executing PR plans that get noticed and stand out. -
Spot media opportunities and proactively build a stronger, more visible external profile for Maddocks. -
Champion the evolution of our communications channels — from media to website to social media — ensuring they’re always fresh, impactful, and aligned. -
Bridge external and internal communications to energise our people and keep them inspired by Maddocks’ vision, values, and achievements. -
- Partner closely with the CEO and key stakeholders to anticipate reputational risks, develop smart mitigation strategies, and confidently steer the firm through crisis or issues management.

About You
As our new Head of Communications you will work closely with our executive team, partners and the wider business development team. You will need to be conscientious, have the highest standards of professional conduct and want to continuously improve on everything you do. An inquisitive mind, strong communication and relationship building skills are highly valued.
To excel in this role you will also need:
- 5+ years’ experience working in a high energy communications role in professional services or a corporate environment alongside experience managing teams
- Proven experience in developing and implementing external communications strategies, including liaising with media contacts
- Results focused with experience liaising, coaching and influencing exec teams, partners and senior lawyers
- Ability to forge and grow relationships both internally and externally
- Thrive in a high energy environment where no 2 days are the same
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills alongside strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Be an effective team-player and have highly developed interpersonal skills including confidence, diplomacy and ability to gain credibility quickly
- Proven track record in delivering operational excellence and using data to drive decision making
- Be committed to championing innovation and best practice in client service and thought leadership
