Position Summary
The Head of Faculty role is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of all aspects of the
curriculum including the preparation of work programs, development of resource materials, monitoring of student
progress, the development of staff practices, and the ongoing collaborative review of subject programs and practice
in alignment with the strategic direction of the School.
Selection Criteria
SC1 Curriculum Leadership in Humanities and Ethics & Faith: Ability to lead the implementation of all aspects of
the curriculum, specifically within the Humanities and Ethics & Faith disciplines, including work programs,
resource development, student progress monitoring, and review of practices, aligning with the school's
strategic direction.
SC2 Subject Matter Passion and Engaging Learning Environment: Demonstrated deep passion for Humanities
and Ethics & Faith, with the ability to foster an inspiring and enthusiastic learning environment that
motivates and engages both students and staff within these specific disciplines.
SC3 Curriculum Compliance and Differentiation in Humanities and Ethics & Faith: Proven capacity to ensure the
Humanities and Ethics & Faith curriculum meets the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and
Assessment Authority and National Curriculum, including course specifications and differentiation to
accommodate diverse student needs.

Head of Faculty (Years 7 - 12)
Position Summary
The Head of Faculty role is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of all aspects of the
curriculum including the preparation of work programs, development of resource materials, monitoring of
student progress, the development of staff practices, and the ongoing collaborative review of subject
programs and practice in alignment with the strategic direction of the School.
The role is an educational leadership position of added responsibility and is subject to the current Queensland
Anglican Schools Enterprise Agreement requirements.
Key Responsibilities
General
- Lead the implementation of all aspects of the curriculum, including the preparation of work programs,
conducting ongoing collaborative reviews of subject programs and practice in alignment with the
School’s strategic direction
- Demonstrate a deep passion for the subject area, fostering an inspiring and enthusiastic learning
- Ensure the curriculum meets the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority
assessment criteria, accurate record keeping and accommodating the diverse needs, interests and
abilities of students
- Serve as a role model of an effective classroom teacher, utilising relevant, contemporary best practices
- Collaborate with faculty staff in the development of curriculum and programming
- Align all faculty planning and practices with the School’s Strategic and Annual Improvement Plans
- Oversee the professional development of all staff within the faculty
- Work collaboratively with other faculties to promote interdisciplinary learning and coherence
- Provide pastoral support for staff, in particular, staff in the faculty ensuring their well-being and
- Manage student behaviour and discipline within the faculty, coordinating with Head of House, Pastoral
- Ensure effective communication within the faculty and with all stakeholders, maintaining clear and
- Act as the spokesperson for the faculty, representing its interests and achievements
- Advise students on subject choices, helping them make informed decisions about their academic
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff and students as appropriate to ensure transparency and
- Manage the faculty budget in coordination with the Business Manager
- Convene regular faculty meetings with a focus on continuous improvement and addressing any issues
promptly
- Teacher Registration with the QLD College of Teachers
- Bachelor of Education (or similar)
- A Master's Degree and/or further postgraduate study in a related field is highly desirable.
- Balancing diverse needs and professional development of faculty members is a significant challenge.
The Head of Faculty must address varying levels of experience and expertise among staff, ensuring
consistent implementation of curriculum and teaching standards across the faculty. Providing effective
feedback and support is crucial for promoting continuous improvement while maintaining high morale
and motivation within the team
- The role requires juggling multiple responsibilities, including curriculum development, student progress
and maintain high standards is essential. The Head of Faculty must adapt to changing educational
requirements and expectations, managing time efficiently to address both immediate and long-term
goals
- Navigating and resolving conflicts diplomatically is crucial to maintaining a positive and productive
faculty, addressing any issues promptly and fairly. Building trust and rapport among staff members,
students, and parents is essential for creating a collaborative atmosphere. Ensuring that all voices are
heard and respected helps to promote a sense of community and shared purpose, which is vital for the
overall success of the faculty and the School.
- Take full responsibility for compliance with the School’s Workplace Health and Safety Policy, Safe Work
- Identify any unsafe behaviour, or unsafe or unhealthy conditions, and report these to the Principal
- Adopt risk management strategies to minimise risk of injury to people and property in the workplace
- Be responsible for own health and safety and for the health and safety of others in the workplace who
- Cooperate with the Principal or other person so far as is necessary to enable compliance with any
requirements under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the regulations that are imposed in the
interests of health, safety and welfare on the Diocese or any other person.
- St Luke’s School takes child protection seriously, and as an employee of the School, you are

- Therefore, as a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:

- Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge
- Act as a positive role model for children and young people
- Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse to
- Maintain valid ‘working with children’ (Blue Card) documentation (where req.)
- Undergo periodic ‘national criminal history record’ checks if requested
- Report to management of any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the
course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young
people.

- Support the Strategic Plan and the School Improvement Plan
- Take full responsibility for compliance with the Staff Conduct - Guidelines and Expectations
- Take full responsibility for compliance with all school policies and procedures
- Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
- Attend meetings as required by the Principal and/or their delegate
- Comply with all requirements of Anglican Church Southern Queensland Policy and
Procedures manual – Safeguarding our Students.

responsibilities of this position at their discretion in order to most effectively serve the needs of the School.
