About the role!
Head of Finance role is designed to lift financial capability in; ways of working, processes, technology, people and systems. Provide strategic and operational leadership in the delivery of GRNSW Strategic Plan.
- Leading a team of five (5) direct reports.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial models and forecasts are accurate, realistic, and aligned with strategic priorities.
- Ensure a robust risk averse procurement structure and practices.
- Management Accountant activities in delivering education, insight, analytics and data as a business partner to the senior and executive leadership teams.
- Proven comprehensive experience in financial audits and forensic accounting activities.
- Ensuring effective management of financial risk, governance and compliance.
- Oversee and execute the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analyses, and Board/Executive reporting packages.
- Present and educate others on progressive financial practices.
- Maintain oversight of capital grant funds and infrastructure investment tracking, including acquittal processes and financial modelling.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation laws, and statutory obligations.
- Review and ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns, BAS, PAYG, superannuation, and other financial compliance obligations.
- Monitor and manage GRNSW’s short- and medium-term cash flow to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
- Oversee payroll services, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial transaction integrity.
- Build effective partnerships with internal stakeholders across all levels, supporting business units with financial advice and budget ownership.
- Provide clear, accessible financial guidance to non-finance staff to build commercial awareness across the organisation.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including service providers, auditors, Clubs, and participants.
- Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Execution of long-term financial strategies aligned with GRNSW’s strategic objectives.
- Model best practices in financial operations, practices, systems, and ways of working in the management of the finance function.
- Manage and draft relevant financial policies.

About You!
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally as a Head of Finance, or similar.
- Experience in financial reporting, including monitoring profitability, cash flow, and business objectives, and the preparation and analysis of financial reports and trends.
- Minimum degree qualification (accounting - preferably public accounting, finance, economics, business combined with current accreditation as a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality financial reporting and analysis to inform executive decision-making.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-finance audiences.
- High level personal ethics, integrity, respect for others, and an ability to deal professionally and effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Sound knowledge of enterprise risk, compliance, and financial governance frameworks.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- High integrity, strategic insight, customer service, and a solutions-focused mindset.
