About the role

Are you a seasoned aviation professional with a passion for safety, excellence, and operational integrity? Join PHI as our Head of Standards – Australia, where you’ll shape the future of flight operations.

As the Head of Standards – Australia you’ll be the cornerstone of our operational distinction, leading the development, implementation, and oversight of aviation standards and compliance programs. You’ll work closely with CASA, internal stakeholders, and frontline flight crews to ensure our pilots meet and exceed regulatory and company standards.

Reporting to the Head of Flying Operations (Chief Pilot), Australia you will play a pivotal role in the success of our national standards and compliance strategy, driving operational consistency and excellence across all flight activities.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Ensure standardisation and continuous improvement across all flight operations activities.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and liaise with CASA and other authorities.
  • Oversee internal safety and quality programs, including LOSA and auditing.
  • Manage amendments and updates to operational documentation and industry standards.
  • Support flight operations leadership and contribute to strategic development of best practices.
  • Track changes to the CASA CASR Part 119, 133,138, 141 and 142.
  • Attend CASA flying operations seminars and liaise with CASA and other authorities as required.
  • Engage with industry bodies to contribute to the development and review of global best practices.
  • Coordinate the company’s involvement with HeliOffshore and similar organisations.
  • Administer Web Manuals and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Support the flight operations management team as directed by the HOFO.
  • Undertake other flight operations tasks as assigned by the HOFO or Alternate HOFO.

Additional responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintain IFR currency on an aircraft type operated by the company.
  • Perform flying duties as required

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Licence: CASA ATPL (H) with Instrument Rating.
  • Extensive experience in either Offshore or Marine Pilot Transfer operations.
  • Type Rated on one of: H175, AW189 or S92.
  • 3000 hours total helicopter time including 1500 hours multi-engine (helicopter).
  • 1500 hours command (helicopter).
  • 1200 hours multi-crew (helicopter).
  • Extensive knowledge of CASA regulatory environment.
  • Experience with Web manuals and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous aviation management experience.
