Our Work Health & Safety team is part of the People & Performance division and is dedicated to delivering high quality health and safety services, workers compensation, and wellbeing programs. We support both field based and corporate employees, fostering a strong safety culture and a holistic approach to wellbeing across the entire organisation.


About the Role

Join a forward-thinking local government organisation committed to creating a safe and supportive workplace culture. As the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of Council’s health, safety, and wellbeing practices. Working as part of the People & Performance team, you’ll provide practical and timely advice, assist with incident investigations, support the coordination of WHS initiatives, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and safety standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to a positive safety culture across a diverse workforce.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support on Health, Safety and Wellbeing matters across the organisation.
  • Assist with incident investigations and ensure accurate reporting and follow-up.
  • Support the delivery of Health, Safety and Wellbeing training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
  • Participate in risk assessments and contribute to hazard identification processes.
  • Assist with the coordination of safety audits and inspections.
  • Monitor and maintain safety documentation, including procedures and work instructions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System.
  • Liaise with employees and leaders to promote safety awareness and engagement.
  • Prepare Health, Safety and Wellbeing related reports, data summaries and updates for internal stakeholders.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management practices and safety systems.
  • Experience supporting WHS initiatives in a diverse organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Confidence in delivering safety-related communications and training.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset with attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in supporting incident investigations and reporting.
  • Proficiency in using WHS systems and Microsoft Office applications.


Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Lead auditor qualification or experience (desirable).
