The Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility with a focus on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration back into society. It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.
About the Role:
The Justice Officer - Finance is an entry-level position to a career in the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). You will process a range of financial, accounts payable and purchasing transactions ensuring compliance with requirements and timelines
Some of your duties will include:
- Under minimal supervision, providing a range of high-quality finance related services to Beechworth Correctional Centre, maintaining accurate records in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other government regulations and guidelines local operating procedures
- Performing a range of accounts functions, including payables, receivables, reconciliation, and data entry and reporting
- Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of Beechworth Correctional Centre invoices for payment.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Well-developed computer literacy
- Knowledge of accounting processes in particular accounts payable
- Demonstrated experience with Oracle or similar finance related system
- Demonstrated experience in fixed asset accounting and asset register maintenance is desirable.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Advanced computer skills including effective use of various systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, appointment scheduling and internet is desirable
