The Teams
Litigation and Dispute Resolution
McCullough Robertson’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution group provides expert legal services across a wide range of industries, including energy, resources, manufacturing, and government sectors. We assist clients from individuals to listed and large private corporations with complex disputes across an array of areas including insolvency, corporate compliance, defamation matters, intellectual property, white-collar crime, and more.
Insurance and Corporate Risk
McCullough Robertson’s Insurance and Corporate Risk Group is unique in the Australian legal market, offering advice across every class of insurance including public and products liability, ISR, contract works, property, professional indemnity, D&O, workers’ compensation, marine, and aviation.
Real Estate Group
McCullough Robertson’s Real Estate Group is recognised for its industry expertise, technical excellence, and innovative approach that consistently delivers exceptional results for clients. Our team advises on an array of real estate projects, from urban renewal and greenfield developments to master-planned communities, retail hubs, and commercial ventures.
Project Approvals
McCullough Robertson’s Project Approvals team is the heart of our firm’s Resources and Renewables and Native Title practices. We advise on all aspects of project development and compliance, including, tenement and regulatory issues, environmental matters and impacts of nature positive reforms, native title and cultural heritage, land access, offsets, land rehabilitation, carbon emissions management, energy transition, water access and ESG related issues.
The Roles
Working as a Legal Assistant at McCullough Robertson, you will play an invaluable role in the smooth operations of your practice group.
Whilst each day will be diverse your key duties will include:
- Providing secretarial support for general administrative tasks, including monthly billing, electronic document file management;
- New file management ensuring compliance with the firm cost agreement policies;
- Expense and credit card reconciliation;
- Brief preparation (electronic and physical) and basic court document drafting, amendment and management of lodgment of court documents (for litigation and insurance roles);
- Proactive diary management and meeting coordination along with the coordination of catering requirements;
- Coordination of travel arrangements;
- Participating in team meetings, team social gatherings and development sessions including monthly meetings and annual retreat;
- Issuing documents via the docusign platform (for real estate role);
- Working closely with the Legal Assistant team and the broader Brisbane office.
Experience
As an ideal candidate, you will have prior legal assistant experience within the relevant area of law for the position applied for.
You will also be highly motivated, with excellent organisational skills, and a genuine desire to provide exceptional support to your authors.
Furthermore, you will demonstrate the following attributes:
- An ability to exercise initiative;
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
- Proactive time management and effective management of competing deadlines;
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality throughout all tasks;
- Self-motivation with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
- A collaborative spirit, working well with your team and other legal assistants across the firm; and
- Strong technical skills and a solid understanding of software applications.
