The Opportunity
As a Leisure & Lifestyle employee with Carrington you will work closely with the Lifestyle and Leisure Coordinator and the Care Services Managers to provide an effective, person-centred leisure and lifestyle program. You will tailor programs to the needs of the individuals to support their well-being and maintain quality of life, including minimising Sundowning behaviours and resident falls risk. We currently have Part Time opportunities for 3-month contracts across a variety of shift times.
Responsibilities:
- Provides activities for consumers’ emotional, spiritual and psychological well-being
- Identifies individual consumers with particular needs and develops tailored programs to include these consumers.
- Organises group activities to encourage socialisation, stimulation and a feeling of belonging
- Taking the lead in organising & coordinating particular activities and events
- Communicates with consumers, families, care staff to encourage participation and involvement of consumers.
- Recognises and accommodates the consumer’s cultural and spiritual preferences in activities.
- Assist with the design, delivery and monitoring of group and individual recreational activities
- Evaluates the activities program for suitability and consumer satisfaction. Assist with maintaining documentation of activities and therapies

ABOUT YOU
Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or relevant tertiary degree (e.g. Diversional Therapy)
- Previous experience in development and implementation of Diversional Therapy programs
- Previous experience in providing person-centered leisure and lifestyle activities to aged care consumers or people living with disability
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
- Well-developed communication skills
- Current first aid certificate
- Right to work in Australia
- Completion of a pre-employment assessment and a National Criminal History check clearance during recruitment process
Desirable:
- Experience working with people with dementia, particularly implementing and facilitating Sundowning programs An understanding of the ANACC documentation and accreditation standards and dementia
