Primary objective
Lead and manage the regional project delivery team and hospital engineering team to deliver Urgent Minor Repairs, Minor New Works
and Capital Works projects to building asset infrastructure in the Barkly Region. Oversee the design, planning and delivery phases through
to successful completion, being accountable in respect of time, cost and quality.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level leadership and resource management to the regional Infrastructure teams and manage staffing, financial and physical
resources of the work units. Exercise the role of the Superintendents Representative on a range of contracts.
2. Lead a small team to deliver Engineering Services at the Tennant Creek Hospital, including 24-hour operational management of critical
building assets essential to the provision of medical services.
3. Provide high-level advice to senior management on the planning and delivery of works programs including status reporting, risk
management, concept design, estimates, stakeholder feedback and construction. This may require travelling to project sites and to
stakeholder meetings; at times in remote locations.
4. Ensure client and key stakeholders are involved in the decision making and are properly informed at all stages of projects, including
events which may affect completion dates, costs or function of the project.
5. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key authorities, councils and stakeholders including other divisions and
regional offices within the Department, other Government agencies and other key authorities, councils and service providers.
6. Provide emergency management support during out of standard working hours to meet the needs of emergencies and critical events.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in delivering multi disciplined projects on time, budget and to a high quality, with relevant tertiary qualification or
experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
2. High level knowledge and experience working in the construction and building industry with a sound knowledge of program, project
and contract management and government procurement processes.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team to achieve project outcomes and coordinate human resource functions including
employee relations, performance management, training, and recruitment, all while fostering a positive work environment.
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills including report writing and the ability to effectively consult, collaborate and build
strong professional working relationships with colleagues, external clients, the community and industry representatives.
5. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work under pressure, while managing conflicting deadlines and competing priorities.
6. Advanced information technology knowledge, including the use of word processing and spreadsheet software packages, project
management tools and records management systems.
7. Current Northern Territory Driver’s License
Desirable
1. Certificate, Diploma or tertiary qualification in Project Management, Business Management, Change Management or similar
