About the opportunity

The Infrastructure Projects and Reporting Officer is responsible for assisting and coordinating day to day administrative and project matters related to the School and Faculty infrastructure + facilities under broad direction of the Head of Operations, Facilities and Remote sites and working closely with the Infrastructure Projects and Reporting Manager. This position will work to enable improvements to infrastructure and equipment across Faculty of Science, in liaison with the Infrastructure Projects and Reporting Manager, Building Support Coordinator, University Infrastructure (UI), and Central Operations Services (COS), inclusive of Asset Management Office (AMO), Technical Support Services (TSS) Team, Protective Services and Risk (PS&R) team, as well as ICT.

As the Infrastructure Projects and Reporting Officer you will be responsible for the management of data and coordination of initiatives that support the Faculty’s strategic priorities in terms of infrastructure, space and operations of the teaching, research, laboratory and technical facilities for the work area. This role will provide support for the development of competitive funding applications, and liaises with University Infrastructure (UI), Central Operations Services (COS) and stakeholders, and offers support and advice for successful delivery of refurbishment requests. The role holder is also responsible for supporting WHS, procurement and asset management activities.

The incumbent is responsible for supporting the Faculty of Science’s strategic objectives through effective management of space and associated physical resources and infrastructure in the buildings and sites it occupies at Camperdown, Camden, Narrabri campuses as well as on remote sites - Crommelin Biological Research Station, and One Tree Island Research Station in Queensland. This role will be required to travel between locations.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • support all refurbishment and minor new build project requests (including equipment installations) for the faculty

  • support core equipment/infrastructure requirements of the faculty for teaching and research

  • support in financial analysis for core equipment/infrastructure for the faculty

  • oversee asset management and procurement administration for the faculty

  • periodically analyse space utilised by the faculty including occupancy and usage audits, and provide advice / make recommendations to the Manager and Faculty leadership team where functionality could be changed, utilisation could be improved, etc

  • build and maintain constructive working relationships with key School, Faculty and University stakeholders.

  • degree with significant subsequent relevant work experience in Construction, Project Management or related fields or an equivalent combination of qualifications/training and experience

  • relevant experience in a Facilities or buildings maintenance role

  • knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation, Laboratory Safety and Licensing requirements

  • extensive experience managing multiple work streams or working in complex projects and ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands

  • NSW Driver License, First Aid and CPR

  • willingness to undergo Tetanus, and Q Fever vaccination and/or health screening recommended by the University as relevant to this position.
