Primary objective
Working in the context of the supported recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the
NT and the NT’s implementation plan Safe, Thriving and Connected: Generational Change for Children and Families, lead the engagement
and work with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders to design, plan and support the implementation of Child and Family Centres
across the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate effective engagement with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and community sector organisations in the co-design and
introduction of Child and Family Centres.
2. Undertake culturally informed research and analysis of issues and contemporary responses and prepare strategic advice that supports
the development of policy and programs.
3. Provide contract management support, prepare project plans, discussion papers, presentations, written briefings and other documents
as required.
4. Develop and maintain close links and effective relationships across the Northern Territory and Commonwealth governments and with
the community sector to inform program, policy and service reform.
5. Manage acquisition processes in accordance with Northern Territory Government legislation, policy and best-practice.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders in service design and implementation.
2. Highly developed contract management, conceptual, analytical, research and problem-solving skills in the context of human services
delivery.
3. Demonstrated experience in developing documentation and briefing senior executives and government.
4. High level negotiation and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships and
negotiate with internal and external stakeholders about complex issues.
5. High level interpersonal skills, including demonstrated superior performance in sensitive problem resolution, including working with
complex issues and analysis.
Desirable
1. Experience in operational, policy or program development, related to the delivery of services to families experiencing vulnerability.
2. Tertiary qualifications in humanities, social science, public policy or a related field.
