Key Responsibilities
Operational Management & Performance:
- Manage the daily operational performance of eBay Australia's shipping portfolio, focusing on key metrics: on-time delivery, cost per parcel, tracking accuracy, and loss/damage rates.
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for major domestic carriers (e.g., Australia Post, StarTrack, Sendle, CouriersPlease, Aramex).
- Conduct regular performance reviews (QBRs) with carrier partners to address service issues, identify improvement areas, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve high-priority shipping escalations and operational disruptions in a timely manner.
Carrier Relationship & Strategy:
- Support the development and execution of the carrier strategy for Australia.
- Assist in contract negotiations and rate reviews, providing data-driven insights on performance and cost.
- Onboard and integrate new carrier partners and services into the eBay platform.
- Stay abreast of market trends, new service offerings, and competitive intelligence within the Australian logistics sector.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the eBay product and engineering teams to implement and improve shipping-related features and tools for sellers.
- Partner with the customer service team to develop resources and processes for resolving shipping-related inquiries efficiently.
- Provide logistical expertise to support commercial and marketing initiatives aimed at growing the marketplace.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Utilize analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Tableau) to monitor performance, analyze root causes of issues, and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Develop and present regular reports on shipping performance to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- 7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or parcel carrier management, preferably within e-commerce or a fast-paced retail environment.
- Demonstrable, hands-on experience working with Australia’s major and regional carriers (e.g., Australia Post, StarTrack, Sendle, etc.). You understand their systems, processes, and operational strengths and weaknesses.
- Strong operational background with experience managing SLAs, KPIs, and daily performance metrics.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external partners and internal teams.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel is essential; SQL or BI tools are a plus).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience with eBay’s platform as a seller or deep familiarity with its seller tools and shipping solutions.
- Knowledge of cross-border shipping processes and challenges is advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
