We are seeking an individual who is passionate about shaping the future of transport in Western Australia. You will thrive on developing fact-based policies and advocating for more connected, vibrant, and liveable communities.
As the Manager Transport Planning and Policy, you will play a key role in RAC’s Public Policy team, leading projects and research that influence transport planning and policy across WA. Your work will directly contribute to RAC’s 2030 Vision for a safer, sustainable, and connected future for Western Australians.

  • Identify and advocate for strategic transport infrastructure priorities that benefit RAC members and the broader community.
  • Manage operational programs, including the Member Priorities Tracker survey.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government, industry, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent RAC on external committees and working groups, delivering presentations as required.
  • Provide expert responses to transport-related queries from members and external organisations.
  • Support the development of accurate media releases and content pieces that promote RAC’s 2030 Vision.
About You
We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for transport planning and policy. You’ll have:
  • A tertiary qualification in urban and regional planning, transport planning, public policy, social research or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in research, policy development, and advocacy.
  • A strong understanding of transport planning, urban planning, and public policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling reports and presentations that are tailored to the audience.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects (including overseeing external consultants) and deliver results.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • A collaborative approach to working, and experience leading other people.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience engaging government and industry stakeholders.
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Availability to attend functions and events, as well as occasional regional or interstate travel.
What can we offer you?
  • A workplace culture where our people feel valued, respected and empowered
  • Work in flexible ways that meet work/life commitments and support wellbeing
  • Be part of a purpose led organisation that gives back to the WA community
  • An environment that values ongoing career development
  • Free Roadside Assistance and discounts on RAC products and services including Holiday Parks and Resorts, Security, Finance, Auto Services and Insurance
  • Opportunities for community engagement and corporate volunteering
