About the role
Townsville Catholic Education is currently seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Team Leader. This is a Full time, fixed term position commencing as soon as practicable and concluding on Friday 27 February, 2026.
The Marketing and Communications Team Leader is a leadership position within the Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) Office and is responsible for supporting the role of TCE in promoting the mission of the Church and the marketing and communications within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville (DoT).The position is charged with leading the development of TCE and DoT’s brand,marketing and communicationsstrategiesand overseeing their translation into system-wide campaigns for TCE and DoT and individual school-level strategies, plans and campaigns with the aim of supporting school growth and improvement within the broader Catholic mission. The role plays a vital role in shaping the reputation, engagement and communication of TCE, DoT and 30 schools within the Diocese
Key Accountabilities include
Role Overview:
Lead and oversee strategic marketing, communications, and customer experience initiatives across TCE and DOT. Drive data-informed decision-making through market research and analysis, develop comprehensive communication strategies, and ensure consistent, impactful messaging for diverse stakeholders. Collaborate with school leaders, executives, and external partners to enhance enrolment, brand awareness, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
- Planning and managing market research and data collection to inform marketing, communication, and enrolment strategies.
- Developing and implementing effective communication strategies and channels for internal and external audiences.
- Leading customer experience initiatives to improve service delivery and engagement with students, families, and staff.
- Overseeing brand, marketing, and communication strategies aligned with organisational mission and strategic goals.
- Providing leadership and support to Marketing and Communication Coordinators and school teams.
- Managing relationships with third-party vendors to ensure high-quality marketing support.
- Delivering training and building communication capabilities across TCE schools and offices.
- Monitoring budget and ensuring quality control of all communications, publications, and digital content.
- Supporting the Executive Director with research and communication needs.
About you
Experience:
- Significant leadership experience in marketing and communications within dynamic, evolving environments.
- Managerial or senior advisory roles with enterprise-wide responsibilities in complex organisations.
- Proven project and consultant management skills supporting timely development of cross-functional strategies and programs.
- Expertise in developing, delivering, and monitoring marketing strategies, initiatives, policies, and procedures aligned with organisational goals.
- Commitment to providing timely, reliable, and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of the Australian P-12 education market, especially in North Queensland and the Catholic Education sector.
- Ability to lead, influence, and develop people in a changing work environment.
- Strong decision-making skills with a clear grasp of stakeholder and organisational needs.
- Proven capability in building relationships, consulting, negotiating, and communicating across all organisational levels and community.
- Skilled in motivating and influencing others toward shared organisational objectives.

Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification – i.e. Business, Commerce, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or similar
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
