About the role
Gilroy Santa Maria College, Ingham is seeking a dedicated Marketing & Events Officer/ Career Advisor. This role is a Term- Time, Permanent position completing 30 hours per week.
We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Marketing, Careers and VET Officer to join our team. This unique role combines strategic marketing and communications with direct support for student career pathways and vocational education programs.
Working closely with the Business Manager and collaboratively with Careers and VET Program Leaders, the successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the College’s identity and success to the wider community while also guiding students in Years 7–12 through meaningful career and vocational experiences.

Typical Duties
Marketing & Events
- The typical duties of the role may include but not limited to:
- Manage marketing materials across digital, print, and social platforms.
- Ensure consistency with brand and style guidelines in all communications.
- Promote College achievements and events through media, social media, and community engagement.
- Support enrolment strategies and identify grant opportunities.
- Provide friendly, professional communication and administrative support.
- Ability to work outside of regular school hours to coordinate and attend school events.
- Creation and management of compass events as per the College's guidelines.
- Creation of College media videos for events such as Awards Night, Information nights and Enrollment campaigns.
Careers & VET Support
- Organise work experience and vocational placements for students.
- Assist in the management of school-based apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Support the delivery of the College’s careers program and related curriculum.
- Coordinate resources and materials for Careers and VET programs.
- Support students' transitions from school into tertiary study, training, or employment.
- Establish and maintain links with local employers, training organisations, and community networks.
Mandatory Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications at Diploma level in Marketing or Public Relations or equivalent qualifications relevant to the position, or 5 years relevant experience.
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
- Ability to work outside of normal designated hours when College events are occurring or updating of social media is required such as Awards Night, Information Evenings and Enrollment events.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in the education field would be considered advantageous.
- Some employees may be subject to pre-employment medical assessments during the selection process. Depending on the nature of the position, it may be necessary for successful applicants to be immunised against certain preventable diseases in order to minimise the risk of transmission.
