The Opportunity
Based from our Ringwood Office, this is your opportunity to join our Apprentice Connect Provider division and work with Australia’s largest single provider.
As a Mentor, you will provide practical, pastoral and motivational support to apprentices and trainees who may face personal or professional challenges, with the aim to improve apprentice retention and completion rates, through consistent, compassionate engagement.
You’ll also play a key role in supporting women in non-traditional trades and maintaining strong relationships with employers, training providers (TAFEs/RTOs), government partners, and other community stakeholders.
This is a highly rewarding role for someone with strong interpersonal skills, a proactive mindset, and a genuine passion for helping others succeed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage a caseload of Apprentices within a local region
- Conduct regular in-person and phone-based check-ins with apprentices and employers
- Undertake risk assessments, identify barriers, and create case management plans to overcome barriers
- Identify and utilise external support services (e.g. mental health, housing, financial) to assist with addressing barriers
- Understand and ensure compliance with policies and procedures applicable to the program
- Maintain accurate and detailed records and documentation
- Maintain strong internal and external relationships
Please note - this is a 12 month fixed-term contract role.
About you
You’re empathetic, solutions-focused, and confident working independently. You have a natural ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and thrive in a role that blends administrative precision with people-first service. You also bring:
- Experience in mentoring, youth work, social services, mental health, or a similar role
- The ability to engage with individuals from varied backgrounds, especially young people
- Sound judgement when identifying and responding to complex issues or risk factors
- Strong relationship-building skills with employers, apprentices, parents, and community stakeholders
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, including experience with CRMs and accurate data entry
- Confidence in working to KPIs and managing competing priorities
- A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel
- Qualifications in community services, social work, youth work, education, or similar will be highly regarded
