About the role

We are seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our Specialist Risk Response Unit as Officers, Specialist Risk. As an Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the Department’s response to complex and high-risk incidents across schools and workplaces. You'll work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver quality case management, provide risk-informed advice, and ensure that safety and wellbeing remain a top priority.

Key responsibilities include:


  • Provide case management services which includes working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and the development of risk management plans across a portfolio of complex and high-risk cases to support safe working and learning environments in line with department policy and procedures.
  • Communicate with and provide quality advice to senior management on complex and sensitive issues in schools and workplaces.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with internal partners and external agencies to ensure effective management complex cases, including the coordination of case conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to build capability, achieve team goals and targets to support service delivery outcomes and meet customer needs.
  • Keep records up to date in the secured system, analyse data and report on new or emerging issues or trends, and recommend strategies to enhance team capabilities to inform business operations, training and development.
  • Manage all tasks and actions in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.

About you

  • Case management experience, particularly working with complex or high-risk matters
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear advice on sensitive issues
  • A collaborative approach to working with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate, secure records
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities
  • A commitment to service excellence, safety, and continuous improvement


Essential requirements of the role

  • A current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
  • A valid Working with Children Check.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
