DP World Brisbane Pty Limited is a dynamic and fast-paced company seeking a dedicated Operations Supervisor to execute the Terminal Operations Plan. The successful candidate will manage the shift operations of our terminal, ensuring the safe and efficient flow of cargo through the facility.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, sound operational judgment, and the ability to perform under pressure in a 24/7 terminal environment. They should show a clear understanding of stevedoring operations, safety compliance, and industrial relations, along with proven experience managing large teams and coordinating complex logistics. A results-driven mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise terminal shift operations, ensuring safety, productivity, and efficient labour allocation.
Coach and manage operational staff on performance, attendance, conduct, and compliance with industrial agreements.
Ensure compliance with all HSSE standards, lead incident investigations, and promote a strong safety culture.
Execute vessel operations plans, coordinating quay crane activities and maintaining accurate operational records.
Support landside operations, including truck turnaround, bulk runs, and yard efficiency.
Collaborate with stakeholders such as shipping lines, transport companies, government authorities, and contractors.
Monitor and manage operational costs, including labour usage, call-ins, and equipment allocation within budget.
Drive continuous improvement in shift KPIs including GMPH, TTT, SCR, and workforce efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience
Tertiary qualifications in business, logistics, engineering or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in terminal operations within transport, marine, or stevedoring sectors.
Proven leadership in managing large-scale, 24/7 operational teams.
Experience in container or bulk port operations with a strong understanding of vessel and yard workflows.
Skilled in managing industrial relations within unionised environments.
Strong knowledge of cargo handling procedures, terminal operating systems (e.g. Navis N4, XPS), and workforce systems (e.g. Microster).
Solid understanding of stevedoring-related legal, commercial, and contractual obligations.
Well-versed in WH&S legislation, MO32, and terminal safety policies and procedures.
