Primary objective
Provide project management and policy support through evidence-based advice to inform decision making and the
development of policy, planning and communications.
Context statement
The objective of the unit is to strengthen the accountability of the education and training sector. The unit identifies and
coordinates reform and improvement projects to respond to recommendations established by external review bodies.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Drive the coordination, monitoring and reporting for key system level reforms and improvement projects.
2. Develop briefing material, policy, strategies, project documentation and procedures.
3. Conduct research and critical analysis to inform policy direction.
4. Assist with project development, delivery and project governance, for system improvement and regulatory reform
projects
5. Support project closure activities such as documenting outcomes, capturing lessons learned, and planning for transition
to delivery teams.
6. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of
the reform initiatives.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound knowledge and experience in the preparation of policy, consultation and communication materials, briefing
papers, project documentation, and other high-level documentation, appropriately targeted to the intended audience.
2. Demonstrated ability to research and critically analyse information from varied sources, with high attention to detail,
to support the development of policies and projects.
3. Demonstrated experience in clearly articulating complex matters to diverse audiences both in writing and verbally.
4. High-level organisational and time-management skills with proven ability to manage priorities and deliver quality
outcomes in a constantly changing environment with minimal supervision.
5. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including ability to build and maintain effective networks
with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Degree of relevant discipline such as public administration, business administration, law, social science, accounting,
economics or similar.

ability to obtain.
