Primary objective
Provide high level document management support to ensure that all policy documents are accurately and efficiently made available
to Northern Territory Health staff via the Policy Guidance Centre.
Context statement
The Policy Governance Unit provides clinical and non-clinical policy management services across NT Health. These services include
the administration of the Policy Guidance Centre which is the centralised register for all of the agency’s policies, procedures and
guidelines.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Follow defined document registration processes to ensure that all policies, procedures and guidelines are accessible to NT
Health staff in a timely manner and in accordance with the relevant governance frameworks.
2. Administer governance processes, ensuring a high level of accuracy and a strong focus on attention to detail.
3. Provide advice and guidance to build capability and compliance with relevant business rules and governance requirements.
4. Provide high quality client service which includes first level desktop support and reporting for users and management.
5. Work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, contribute to shared goals, and maintain
respectful and professional relationships.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of policy governance processes and information
management principles.
2. High level of written and verbal communication, interpersonal, negotiation and collaboration skills with experience working
with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
3. Demonstrated ability to undertake and produce work with accuracy and attention to detail.
4. Ability to coordinate and manage competing priorities and workload through self-motivation, including the ability to see projects
and tasks through to completion.
5. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office applications, as well as specialised
document management and service management systems.
6. Proven ability to provide an efficient and responsive client service through liaison with stakeholders and provide training as
required.
7. Strong capacity to work independently and actively seek information and guidance as appropriate.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualifications such as Information Management, Document Control, Records Management or Policy Management.
2. Detailed working knowledge of the NT Health governance structure.
