The Sydney Pharmacy School is a globally recognised leading centre for pharmacy research and education. Our teams of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy, across a range of therapeutic areas.
The University is seeking to employ a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) to join Professor Lu and her research team. The team conducts research and teaches on health care policy and practice in Australia and the US.
The Sydney Pharmacy School has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the NSLHD as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, to contribute to health policy and outcomes research with a focus on quality use of medicines. The Research Fellow will perform and manage research projects from their initial development through publication of findings in peer-reviewed journals.
The incumbent will be base within the Sydney Pharmacy School located at Kolling Institute, Northern Sydney Local Health District.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead or participate in medicines policy, pharmacoepidemiologic, pharmacoeconomic, or outcomes research projects. Specific projects will be determined based on the Fellow’s background and interests
- design, partake, and undertake medicines policy and outcomes research manage research projects, including liaison with project staff and data custodians, conduct data analysis of large-scale datasets to address relevant research questions, tracking performance against timelines and deliverables
- prepares manuscripts detailing research findings and submits to peer-reviewed journals.
- presents research findings within and outside of FMH.
- develop and submit grant proposals and applications, research protocols, analysis plans, ethics applications etc
- works closely with Prof Lu to monitor progress and resolve issues that arise during the course of the research
- provide direction and mentorship to post-graduate and/or undergraduate students in the team
- seek out research synergies and network within and outside the NSLHD and FMH
- other duties and projects as assigned.
About you
- Hold a PhD or equivalent post-graduate qualification (desirable to be in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, or related fields)
- track-record in peer-reviewed publications (independently or as part of a team) demonstrated understanding of relevant research methods such as epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, economics
- demonstrated research experience in relevant fields with skills in managing data sets, ethics applications, and coordination of project-specific tasks
- demonstrated capacity to undertake high quality systematic reviews of the scientific literature
- proven ability and capability for using modern data-centric programming languages such as R, Stata or SAS
- proven ability to work both independently and manage time effectively, and as a member of a multidisciplinary research team
- excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills high-level organisational skills and
- proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
