Why this role?
We are seeking an experienced Principal Cyber Security Officer to lead within a high-performing team within the Department of Education's Information Security Services. Based in Brisbane, you'll take charge of managing cyber security risk and compliance processes, including advising on security compliance and providing reporting on cyber security risk and management across the Department's broad digital environment.
As a strategic thinker and hands-on operator, you'll collaborate with security analysts, influence risk management, and provide expert advice to strengthen system resilience. You'll also contribute to the development of security policies, lead medium-sized projects, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Advising stakeholders on risk and compliance
Providing advice for complex ICT security incidents
Developing policies, standards, and secure practices
Supervising vendor contracts and SLAs
Preparing documentation, including reports, agendas, and meeting minutes, for security governance groups
Managing the Department's information and cyber security audit and assurance activities
The Perfect Fit
Expertise in cyber security operations and governance
Knowledge of ISO27001 or equivalent frameworks (desirable)
Strong leadership, project management and communication skills
