Salary: $153,275 - $165,000 (pending experience) + 12.75% super

What we are looking for:
Applications are now open for Deputy Principal to join the leadership team of Catherine McAuley College, Mackay, commencing January 2026. This is an exciting new leadership opportunity for applicants demonstrating deep commitment to Catholic education, who actively participate in the faith life of their parish, and who have strong teaching experience, academic qualifications and leadership qualities.
The Deputy Principal role is to provide general leadership in support of the Principal in the achievement of the acknowledged mission and goals of the school community and areas delegated by the Principal as designated in the Deputy’s duty statement. The Deputy Principal may act in place of the Principal during periods of Principal’s absence. The Deputy Principal's primary role is to assist the Principal in ensuring suitably qualified staff are sourced for the College and for the welfare, well-being and professional support of the College staff.

To exercise leadership in the holistic development of the young people within the College as part of the Leadership team.
- Efficient organisation of routine College operation
- Development of and active participation in the Catholic Ethos of the College
- Progressive development of contemporary curriculum structures and best practice teaching and learning
- Participation in and organisational contribution to whole staff professional growth
- Active involvement in the faith formation of the staff and Religious education curriculum for the students
- Visible involvement in the College co-curricular life and community participation initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to lead high performing collaborative teams
We are seeking to appoint a leader who
- is a practising Catholic with a sound understanding of, and commitment to Catholic education
- has experience of successful leadership in Catholic education
- can foster a culture of inspirational teaching and learning and lead the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives
- has the interpersonal skills to build partnerships within the school and with the local community
- is willing to provide leadership in areas delegated by the Principal in the Deputy Principal duty statement, and
- can lead in ways that are consistent with the message of Jesus and the Gospels

Catherine McAuley College opened its doors in 2022, in order to meet the growing demand for a quality, Catholic Education in the Mackay region. Starting with pioneering Year 7’s in 2022, they will grow into a complete Years 7 to 12 profile by 2027.
