As a Project Data Officer with the Indigenous Data Network (IDN), you'll play a crucial role in managing and improving data catalogues, fostering partnerships, and advancing the governance of Indigenous data You'll have the opportunity to develop educational resources, contribute to scholarly publications, and influence policy in Indigenous data governance. This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact on national research infrastructure while working with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and Enhance Data Catalogues: Oversee ISU's data catalogues, improve data management frameworks, and implement governance policies.
  • Foster Partner Engagement: Facilitate data support for IDN partners, improve metadata representation, and ensure ethical data storage and acquisition.
  • Facilitate the Development of Educational Resources: Work with the Indigenous Data Network team to develop technical training resources on data ggovernance and support advocacy efforts to improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to Research and Policy: Collaborate on scholarly articles, policy papers, and the dissemination of Indigenous Data Governance best practices.
  • Maintain Technical Infrastructure: Enhance data systems, improve publication metrics, and ensure compliance with University policies.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a skilled data professional with experience in managing research data catalogues, metadata and data repositories, excellent project management abilities, and a passion for advancing ethical data practices in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

You may also:

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Data Science, Indigenous Studies, or a related field.
  • Possess strong knowledge of data governance principles and technical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate excellent project management and collaborative skills.
  • Have experience developing and delivering training on data governance.
  • Be familiar with Indigenous research ethics and knowledge management (desirable).
