Project Officer
Location - Parramatta
Employment type – Temporary full-time role for 12 months
Salary - $113,574.00 pa - $125,720.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
The Restrictive Practices Team is responsible for the regulation of the authorisation of restrictive practices (such as seclusion, or chemical, mechanical, physical or environmental restraint) by NDIS service providers and Behaviour Support Practitioners in NSW.
What you’ll do
The primary purpose of this Project Officer is to perform project management and support related activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives. This role is integral in managing and implementing a range of projects in line with the directorate’s ’responsibilities, which help to improve DCJ service delivery and operations, and contribute to promoting better outcomes for individuals, families, groups and communities across NSW.

The Central Restrictive Practices Team is a team of 9 people; The work will require the role to provide pro-active support and establish productive collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders such as NDIS service providers.
Your skills, knowledge and desire to provide values led advice and support – promoting human rights, placing people with disability at the centre and focusing on safeguarding and wellbeing, will support the Central Restrictive Practices Team achieve its outcome-based objectives.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate is someone that can:
- Utilise your effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders to build collaborative relationships and promote change in the sector that directly contributes to the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices and better outcomes for individuals
- Support capacity building in restrictive practice authorisation through assisting NDIS service providers to understand the authorisation requirements in accordance with NSW Government restrictive practice authorisation legislation and policy and access and utilisation of the NSW RPA System
- Provide advice to the Manager on key issues impacting on the provision of support, key risk issues and the identification of opportunities for improvement
- Monitor and responding to incoming enquires and support requests
- Prepare resources, reports and correspondence
- Establish administrative processes to support the restrictive practices authorisation function.
