Primary objective
The Project Support Officer provides specialist administration and contract administration advice and services to the Executive Directors, Senior
Director, project managers and client agencies to support the delivery of major projects.
Context statement
Infrastructure NT, the Northern Territory’s infrastructure body, undertakes strategic infrastructure planning and development that co-ordinates
and aligns infrastructure needs with economic and population growth, and delivers nationally significant infrastructure projects. The Northern
Territory Government is working with industry and the Australian Government to transform Middle Arm into a sustainable ‘development ready’
industrial precinct.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Under the direction of the Director, provide project management support for a diverse range of activities for the project teams including
stakeholder engagement, conferences and key events.
2. Support the planning and implementation of projects including conducting data analysis, preparing project plans and identifying and managing
associated risks.
3. Provide comprehensive information and evidence-based advice to various stakeholders based on data gathered and distilled from relevant
sources.
4. Contribute to or draft high-level documentation for the review and approval of the Director, such as Ministerial Briefs, status reports and
submissions.
5. Support executive and senior management to undertake stakeholder engagement processes with proponents, relevant government agencies
and private sector organisations, ensuring competing priorities and complex matters are managed professionally, sensitively and confidentially.
6. Undertake procurement and contract management activities to engage contractors to deliver services for projects and initiatives, including
preparing tender documentation, tracking contractor performance, reporting on outcomes and ensuring compliance with governance
frameworks and policy guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability in project and contract administration and associated budget, financial and procurement processes.
2. Proven ability in the use of a range of data management, financial management and project management systems such as MS Office programs
and NT government systems, or ability to acquire.
3. High-level skills in maintaining data integrity with thoroughness, attention to detail and accuracy, and high-level numeracy and reconciliation
skills.
4. High standards of client focus with the ability to be flexible in dealing with a range of complex projects concurrently.
5. Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain and present complex information in a logical
and meaningful manner to a range of audiences.
6. Proven ability to work independently, and as a member of a team, to achieve outcomes and to prioritise workloads and effectively manage
time to achieve multiple and conflicting deadlines.
7. Demonstrated understanding of, and sensitivity to, cross-cultural issues.
Desirable
1. A sound knowledge of the Northern Territory Government (or similar jurisdiction) project and contract administration procedures and systems
and relevant legislation and guidelines.
2. Experience in project and contract administration of Capital and or Minor New Works programs or ability to acquire.
