We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We’re proud of brands, like COLORBOND ® steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.

Based on-site at our busy production hub, you’ll be right at the centre of the action, supporting critical purchasing activities that directly impact our customers, sites, and our commercial outcomes. This opportunity suits someone who thrives on being busy, is confident working to deadlines, and enjoys solving problems in a dynamic, day-to-day environment where no two days are the same.

You’ll be part of a committed and supportive team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and achieving great purchasing and procurement outcomes together. Your contribution will be felt across the business, helping secure cost-effective solutions that directly impact the success of our commercial performance.

This full-time permanent position offers a consistent 8am-4pm schedule, Monday to Friday, and includes free on-site parking. You’ll collaborate daily with a friendly and inclusive team that encourages growth and invests in your ongoing development.

What Will You Do?

As a customer-centric professional working within a collaborative team environment, you’ll process and manage purchase orders for consumables, materials, and stock across multiple sites state-wide. You’ll also:

  • track and follow up orders, keeping things moving and stakeholders informed
  • review and convert requisitions, and maintain accurate records and data
  • liaise daily with suppliers, transport, stores, scheduling, and internal teams
  • analyse, resolve and communicate purchasing issues and supplier queries
  • monitor the quality of supplier service through vendor ratings and accounts payable
  • contribute to process improvement initiatives, including supporting the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP)

More About You

As someone who takes pride in being organised and dependable, you enjoy a challenge, work well under pressure, and can adapt to shifting priorities. You’ll bring:

  • demonstrated purchasing experience in operations, manufacturing or a similar fast-paced setting
  • strong attention to detail, time management, and a solutions-focused mindset
  • confidence using Microsoft Office tools and ability to learn new systems quickly
  • great communication skills and a strong customer service approach both internally and externally
  • experience in (or desire to grow your Purchasing skills within) the building, steel, or industrial sectors

Why BlueScope

As we’re creating strength for the future through our people, products and solutions, BlueScope gives you opportunities to innovate, learn and grow with the business, supported by inclusive leadership and a positive, passionate team. At BlueScope, you’ll:

  • Learn and develop as you grow. With opportunities to build skills specific to your role and aspirations, our lifelong learning culture will support your future career pathways.
  • Create innovative solutions. Seek better, smarter ways to solve problems, create sustainable solutions and make things happen.
  • Experience connection and care. Experience a positive, inclusive work environment where we look out for each other’s safety and wellbeing.
