Step into the front line of regulatory intelligence as a Regulatory Triage Officer! In this pivotal role, you'll be the first to assess incoming reports, identify potential regulatory risks, and guide the path forward with your expert classification and case-handling insights. The team
Join ASIC's Regulatory Insights & Assessment (RI&A) team - a key part of the Intelligence division driving an intelligence-led, data-informed regulatory approach. RI&A assesses and escalates reports of misconduct and statutory breaches, reviews funding applications under the Assetless Administration Fund, and helps combat investment scams. The team also issues compliance alerts and contributes to protecting Australian investors through proactive intelligence work.
The role
As a Regulatory Triage Officer, you will:
- ; Triage complex misconduct and statutory reports, identifying risks and determining regulatory responses aligned with ASIC policies.
- ; Classify and progress reports efficiently and accurately.
- ; Guide team members on case management and workload allocation.
- ; Coach and support the team to ensure timely, appropriate regulatory actions.
- ; Conduct legal research and provide informed recommendations on corporate and financial services law.
- ; Identify and escalate issues to manage regulatory risk effectively.
- ; Maintain accurate records across internal databases.
- ; Help develop policies and practices that drive team and business goals.
- ; Prepare briefings, submissions, and correspondence for stakeholders.
- ; Demonstrate strong leadership by mentoring and recruiting staff.
About you
In this role, you will take on additional responsibilities as needed, working professionally, positively, and collaboratively as part of ASIC while embodying our core values of Accountability, Professionalism, and Teamwork. You will also maintain a strong commitment to health and safety, taking reasonable care for your own well-being and that of others in the workplace.
In addition, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in law, finance, accounting, or related field.
- Knowledge of Australian markets, ASIC's regulatory role, and commercial drivers.
- Proven experience analysing complex client and stakeholder issues with strategic insight.
- Background in case and relationship management within financial, legal, regulatory, or corporate sectors.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex cases.
- Understanding of administrative and public sector law, or ability to learn quickly.
- Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills for presenting complex information.
