About the role:
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Gympie Family Store. This includes recycling, retail, and administrative tasks aligned with The Salvation Army’s mission and values. The role contributes to generating ongoing income to support the Corps and its community-based initiatives.
How you will make an impact:
- Assist in managing daily store operations to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. This includes retail floor setup, stock rotation, adherence to pricing policies, cleanliness, point-of-sale operation, calendar scheduling, data entry, cash handling, and customer engagement.
- Open and close the store as needed and reconcile cash registers at the end of day.
- Prepare and submit petty cash reports as required.
- Support the donation intake process and ensure efficient sorting and processing of goods.
- Work alongside the Store Manager to promote items for sale and maintain a visually appealing, well-merchandised store layout.
- Assist with conducting stocktakes and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Supervise and support staff and volunteers, ensuring a positive and productive team environment.
What you will be bring:
- Experience in retail and/or customer service (preferred).
- Experience in mentoring or training team members, or a demonstrated ability to do so.
- Competence in point-of-sale (POS) systems, Microsoft Office, and a willingness to learn other digital platforms.
- A current and valid Driver’s Licence preferred.
- A current First Aid Certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
- A reasonable level of physical fitness to perform manual handling and meet the physical demands of the role safely.
