About the role
As a Risk Specialist at Australian Retirement Trust, you’ll play a pivotal role in embedding strong, consistent risk practices across the People & Impact business area. Reporting to the Risk Manager, you’ll help maintain accurate risk profiles, contribute to effective control design, support incident and audit management, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. This role is ideal for someone with a solid understanding of risk frameworks, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll partner closely with stakeholders to ensure risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively, contributing to a resilient and high-performing organisation.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Assist risk owners with identifying, assessing and managing risks, applying the ART Group Risk Management Framework.
- Support control owners in designing and assessing controls.
- Identify and prioritise activities to enhance risk maturity and monitor their delivery against agreed deadlines.
- Ensure theaccuracy and currency of risk data within ART’s Governance, Risk and Compliance system.
- Provide risk advice on business initiatives and delivered risks.
- Support the management of incidents, obligations and business continuity through established processes
- Assist with audit and assurance activities, including preparation, response and follow-up actions.
- Participate in risk forums and working groups to share best practices.
This role is a 12 month contract based in either Brisbane or Melbourne.
About you

- Solid understanding of risk management principles and frameworks, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
- Strong incident management skills, with the ability to identify, raise, and manage incidents effectively.
- Proficient in interpreting risk data and supporting decision-making through analysis.
- Skilled in using risk management platforms for accurate risk monitoring and reporting.
- Effective communicator with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Adaptable and self-motivated, with strong time management and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experienced in navigating complex regulatory environments.
- Experienced with managing risks and control in Corporate Functions (e.g. People & Culture, Legal, Corporate Affairs) – desired
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline - desired
