The RAMHP Coordinator plays a key role in promoting mental health awareness and addressing both immediate and long-term needs across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District in the face of rural adversity. This position identifies individuals and communities in rural and remote NSW at risk of mental illness or distress, connecting them—and their families and carers—with appropriate services, programs and care pathways. Through targeted education and outreach, the coordinator empowers communities to recognise early signs of mental health issues and facilitates timely access to support.
Working closely with mental health teams, clinicians and local agencies, the RAMHP Coordinator strengthens referral processes and fosters cross-sector collaboration. They build capacity in rural organisations to respond effectively to adversity while improving mental health literacy and integrated care systems. This role also contributes to interagency networks, clinical meetings, and family support teams to ensure that individuals and carers receive essential information and tools for maintaining mental wellbeing.

What you will bring to the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in health, welfare, health promotion or community development related field.
- High level of mental health literacy and demonstrated ability to discuss mental health issues with a variety of people.
- Demonstrated sound understanding of rural and agriculture issues, particularly as they relate to mental wellbeing and rural adversity.
- Demonstrated high level organizational skills and competency in Microsoft computer applications.
- Knowledge, understanding and commitment to NSW Ministry of Health Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrated high level written and interpersonal communication skills with the proven capacity to negotiate, influence and develop relationships with stakeholders and manage face to face communication with small or large audiences.
- Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes and evidence of a current Class C driver’s license.
