About the role:
With a strong pipeline of projects and continued growth across our Asia Pacific operations, we’re expanding our Rail team in Perth. We’re looking for a Senior Track Engineer who’s ready to lead, innovate, and deliver high-impact infrastructure solutions.
As a Senior Track & Civil Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role in delivering complex rail design projects. You’ll support project progress, resource planning, and mentoring junior engineers. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of design outputs across all phases from concept to detailed design.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage track design activities across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed phases.
- Design ballasted and non-ballasted track structures, alignments, profiles, grading, and drainage.
- Conduct clearance assessments for both greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Review and verify engineering designs and reports before submission.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, high-quality outcomes.
- Prepare design briefs, technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
- Estimate quantities, prepare costings, and contribute to tender documentation.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior designers.
- Work closely with Project Managers to develop design schedules and budgets.
- Support business development through proposal contributions and client engagement.
What You’ll Bring:
- 5 - 10 years’ experience in rail and transport infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Strong experience in horizontal and vertical alignment design across various rail modes.
- Proficiency in turnout design and understanding of kinematic envelope build-up.
- Knowledge of track components, fixing types, and maintenance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage scope, budgets, and timelines across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver cost- and time-efficient solutions.
Technical Skills & Tools
- Proficient in 12d, Power Railtrack/OpenRail, MicroStation/AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of ClearRoute (or similar) for clearance assessments.
- Familiarity with ProjectWise or similar design management platforms.
- Competent in Microsoft Office Suite.
